Below are frequently asked questions from VP&S students regarding background checks for pre-matriculation and when applying to or onboarding at away rotations.

1. What background check is required before matriculation?

All VP&S students complete a criminal background check through the AAMC, conducted by Certiphi Screening, Inc., prior to matriculation.

2. How can I access my background check report?
Students can obtain a copy of their report directly from Certiphi by calling 1-888-260-1370.

3. Do I need to complete additional background checks for away rotations?
Yes. Students are responsible for obtaining any additional background checks required by away rotation sites.

4. Does VP&S recommend a vendor for additional background checks?
No. VP&S does not endorse or recommend any specific vendor or company for additional background checks. Students should review the requirements of the requesting institution carefully and use a reputable provider that meets those specifications. VP&S is not responsible for the accuracy, cost, or acceptance of reports obtained through third-party vendors.

5. How do I update my VSLO verification with background check information?
To update your VSLO verification, submit a copy of your background check through a UserVoice ticket.
