Away Electives: Background Checks

Before entry into medical school, VP&S students complete a background check with the AAMC through Certiphi. Students can access their report by contacting Certiphi at 1-888-260-1370.

There are several background check services that students have used in the past, including CriminalWatchDog.com, Sentrylink.com, and the NYPD Headquarters, 1 Police Plaza NYC.

VP&S Public Security does not offer background checks.

Columbia University Medical Center does not endorse any one background check, and there are many more options available online. Please use caution when submitting personal information to any website.

To have your VSLO verification updated with the background check information, send a copy of the background check through a UserVoice ticket.
