Registration: Medicine Subinternship Scheduling

To register for a Medicine sub-I during the spring before graduation (January through March only):

  • Email Dr. Rin your preferred month and IM sub-I. Please include in your email whether or not you have previously taken an IM sub-I and if so which one. You will not be able to take an IM sub-I in April.
  • Add yourself to the MD100 waitlist for your preferred month after that month's rank scheduling has occurred. Make sure you are on the waitlist for the correct month once Dr. Rin has approved you for a specific month.
You will be added to the correct course in OASIS after you have been assigned a sub-I by Dr. Rin.

The survey is no longer available as of 1/28/25. Please email Dr. Rin directly if you need to be scheduled for an IM sub-I.
Please complete the below survey by Friday 1/10 EOD (5pm).
For those of you who do not plan to take an IM SubI, please complete the survey but answer no to question 1.
Please also submit a UserVoice ticket if you complete the survey after the due date. Note that placements for March through August 2025 have already been made as of 1/16/25.

Internal Medicine SubI Scheduling Email and Survey – sent 1/6/25

Dear students:

We are excited to begin D&I with you soon! We would like to request that you please fill out this brief survey to ensure that we are able to accommodate all VP&S students with their preferred Internal Medicine Subinternship sites and rotation months.

As a reminder, you must complete an Internal Medicine Subinternship if you fall into either of the following categories:

Students who are planning on applying in Categorical Internal Medicine or who are strongly considering an application in Categorical Internal Medicine – this group of students must complete their IM SubI by the end of August 2025, and is encouraged to complete their SubI at Milstein or the Allen. Students who are planning on applying for Medicine Prelim programs – this group of students must complete their IM SubI by the end of August 2025. Students applying in or strongly considering Categorical Internal Medicine residency programs will be given priority for rotation spots at Milstein and the Allen through August 2025.

Students who do not fall into either of the above 2 categories (i.e., those students who do not require an IM letter of recommendation or completion of the subI before ERAS opens) but who wish to take an IM subI at some point, for example, to improve general clinical skills or to complete other graduation requirements, are encouraged to indicate their preferences in this survey as well. This group is encouraged to consider taking their IM subI in October through February to increase likelihood of being able to rotate at one of your preferred rotation sites.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey so that we can ensure that all students’ scheduling needs are met. Dr. Rin will reach out to you shortly to inform you which month you can take your IM subI, and thereafter will request preferences for specific rotation sites.
