VS Onboarding: Complete Epic Training

For students rotating at New York Presbyterian only.

Receive CWID, set up DUO Authentication

In order to access patient records during your NYP rotation, you will receive a CWID (Center Wide ID) from NYP. Once it is available, you will be able to find your CWID in your Academic History in OASIS.

In addition to your CWID, you will receive a DUO enrollment email from NYP. During this process, you will set up your CWID password and DUO authentication.

  • Call the NYP service desk for any issues: 212-746-4357
  • You can reset your password here: password.nyp.org

You will not be able to log into any NYP systems without completing this step.

Complete Epic Training

In order to access patient records during your NYP rotation, you will need access to an EMR system called Epic.

You will need to complete about 6 hours of training to receive access to Epic. The training consists of two e-learning modules, listed below, which you can access once you have been given access to the Workday Learning Management System: https://www.myworkday.com/nyp

Access My Learning and click View Program on the appropriate Epic Program to start learning. (See here for more detailed instructions.)

  1. Program: Epic: Ambulatory for Medical Students (direct link: https://www.myworkday.com/nyp/email-universal/inst/23455$412/rel-task/2998$35805.htmld)
  2. Program: Epic: Inpatient for Medical Students (direct link: https://www.myworkday.com/nyp/email-universal/inst/23455$414/rel-task/2998$35805.htmld)

Once your training is complete your Epic access will be automatically added to your CWID account within 48 hours.

  • Make sure you have set up your DUO authentication and CWID password before attempting to log into Workday.
  • We will add your Epic training request ticket number to the Usernames page.
  • To check the status of your access and/or request expedited access, please call the NYP IT service desk at 212-746-4357 (or email servicedesk@nyp.org). You may need to provide them with your ticket number (see Usernames page). Select option 4 if you need assistance with Workday access.
  • Reminder: You can reset your password here: password.nyp.org

Note: For those who already have Epic access

If you have not been active with NYP Epic for more than 6 months, you will need to retake the usual Epic training (Epic: Ambulatory for Medical Students; Epic: Inpatient for Medical Students). If you are able to log into Epic with your credentials without having an issue, you should be all set.
