VS Onboarding: Health Clearance
- You will have access to the SHS portal immediately once you have activated your UNI.
- Note: SHS will need to review your documentation, clear you in their system, and notify our office of your clearance before we can proceed with your onboarding.
Virtual students do not need to submit health requirements and receive health clearance.
Submit health requirements to Student Health Services
- Registration and onboarding are dependent on health clearance. You may be dropped from your elective if you do not receive health clearance in time. See Onboarding Due Dates for more information.
-
Follow the pre-registration process for clinical students on the Student Health Services website to submit your health requirements.
-
Student Health Services will not give you health clearance unless all requirements are met. Pay close attention to what is required, including timeframes. A few notes:
- Hepatitis C antibody within 6 months of program start date is required.
- Tuberculosis Screening – IGRA blood test (QuantiFERON Gold) within 6 months of program start date is required. If positive, submit a chest x-ray report. Only IGRA will be accepted; TB skin tests will not be accepted.
-
Questions about the health requirements can be sent to Student Health at shsregistration@cumc.columbia.edu.
Receive health clearance from Student Health Services
- IMPORTANT: Check the Student Health Services portal regularly for messages until you receive clearance.
